Detective Sergeant Samantha Scott is a fast-track History graduate and second in command in D I Treloar’s team. She admires his ability to make connections that other miss and his cavalier attitude towards some senior officers and the rules. She loves exotic travel. We first meet her on Porthaven beach at the start of Rogue Flamingo.

Beatriz Treloar


Beatriz Treloar is the exciting young head chef at Seafood on Stilts in St Ives, who has just published her first cookbook THE LITTLE CORNISH FISH AND SEAFOOD COOKBOOK. She  first appears in Broken Dove. She is the youngest of D I Treloar's three sisters, a talented musician who plays piano and double bass in a St Ives jazz club. She is the partner of Jory Nancarrow whose father, Jowan owns the restaurant.

Ochre Pengelly


Ochre Pengelly is a Treloar family friend, daughter of an old Cornish family living at Radgell, high on the carn west of Zennor. She is a famous artist and author, an eccentric personality with scant regard for social niceties and a huge heart. This driftwood beach tree is the prototype for the giant Christmas tree which stands in the hall of The Valley of The Tides in Silent Gull. She first appears at the Treloar May Day party in Broken Dove.

Benedict Fitzroy


DCI Benedict Fitzroy is a fellow maverick. A member of a shadowy law enforcement agency, former Metropolitan police officer, formerly with Europol, he has a shady military background and a track record of spectacular successes. He also has a beloved Morris Minor Traveller named Emily and a serious weakness for the ladies. He first appears in Broken Dove.

Dr Anthony Tremayne

Lucia Lo Verde


Lucia Lo Verde is Treloar's middle sister. She is a celebrated photographer who lives in Barcelona with her two children by her former husband. She is renowned for her volatility and great beauty. She also uses her mother's last name in her work - Lucia di Santangel. We first meet her in Broken Dove.
